Developer docs
Build with OpenAccountants.
Open, cited, multi-jurisdiction tax rules — plus an MCP server and a verified-accountant directory. Pull whatever you need: the raw rule data, live tools for your AI agent, or a warranted accountant routed from your app. Start with the quickstart.
Three ways to consume
Public rule bundle
One anonymous fetch returns every published rule for a jurisdiction as markdown, each cited to source. No auth, no key.
HTTP API
MCP server
Sign in through the connector and any MCP-compatible AI agent gets live tools for skills, rates, and cross-border planning.
31 tools
Accountant directory
A public JSON directory of verified partner accountants, so your agent can recommend a warranted human in the user's jurisdiction.

Consumption & access
The open endpoints — the rule bundle, the accountant directory, and /llms.txt — are available today for evaluation and AI-agent discovery. The MCP server is OAuth-gated (sign in through the connector). Consuming OpenAccountants in a product — at commercial scale, under your brand — is a commercial relationship: an account, access terms, and a keyed REST API (on the roadmap).
