Moving countries? We handle the tax on both sides.

OpenAccountants handles the tax when you move countries: your final return in the country you leave, residency and registration in the country you join, the overlap year, and any home or company you keep. One team covers both sides. AI does the routine work and an accountant is responsible.

If you already ask AI about your tax, you will like working with us.

What we do for you

  • Your final return in the country you leave
  • Residency and registration in your new country
  • The overlap year and double tax relief
  • Property and investments you keep
  • Moving or running a company across both countries

How it works

  1. 1. A 30-minute call

Tell us about your situation. Free, no obligation.

  2. 2. A written quote

What is included, who is responsible and the price, before anything starts.

  3. 3. We take it over

AI does the routine work, an accountant reviews it, and you deal with a person.

Questions people ask us

When do I stop being tax resident in the country I leave?

It depends on that country's rules, which look at days spent, your home and your ties. Some countries split the year and others do not. We work it out for both countries before you move.

Can I be taxed twice in the year I move?

It can happen. A double tax treaty usually decides which country taxes first and how the other gives credit. We handle both sides so the credit is claimed.

What about the home or company I leave behind?

Rent, a sale, or a company you still own can stay taxable where it is. We build it into the plan from the start.

What does it cost?

We quote in writing after the first call, once we know what the work involves. The call is free and there is no obligation.

Talk it through with our team.

We work with clients in most countries. Where a piece of work needs a local licence, such as an audit, we tell you on the first call and how we will handle it.
