An accountant for online sellers selling into other countries

OpenAccountants does the accounts, VAT and sales tax for online sellers who sell into other countries, on Shopify, Amazon or their own site. We work out where you must register, file the returns, and reconcile your books to your payouts. AI does the routine work and an accountant is responsible.

How it works

  1. 1. A 30-minute call

Tell us about your situation. Free, no obligation.

  2. 2. A written quote

What is included, who is responsible and the price, before anything starts.

  3. 3. We take it over

AI does the routine work, an accountant reviews it, and you deal with a person.

Questions people ask us

When do I charge VAT in other EU countries?

If your business is in the EU, once your sales to consumers in other EU countries pass EUR 10,000 a year in total, you generally charge the VAT of each customer's country. The One Stop Shop lets you report it in one return instead of registering everywhere.

Do I collect US sales tax if I am not in the US?

Possibly. Most US states require sales tax once your sales into that state pass their threshold, including for sellers abroad, and thresholds differ by state. We check which states you have crossed.

Can you reconcile Shopify, Amazon and Stripe payouts?

Yes. Matching payouts, fees and refunds to your sales is routine work AI handles well, and an accountant checks it.

What does it cost?

We quote in writing after the first call, once we know what the work involves. The call is free and there is no obligation.

Talk it through with our team.

We work with clients in most countries. Where a piece of work needs a local licence, such as an audit, we tell you on the first call and how we will handle it.
