OpenAccountants/DM/Dominica ordinary company income tax

Dominica ordinary company income tax

Dominica ordinary company income tax rate, filing and instalment reference checked for 2026. Covers the standard company rate on established chargeable income, the return deadline and financial-statement attachment, calendar-year prepayment percentages and worked arithmetic. Use for Dominica corporate tax, company income tax returns, financial-year filing or quarterly instalments. This draft separates accounting profit from the tax base and uses calendar-year examples only. It does not determine tax residence, permanent establishment, deductible expenditure, capital allowances, loss relief, tax incentives, treaty entitlement or withholding on distributions. Independent review remains outstanding.

Scope and base

Source-cited draft checked 22 October 2026. This Guide covers ordinary-rate arithmetic and filing milestones once chargeable income has been established. It does not convert accounting profit into taxable profit or determine whether a company qualifies for an exemption or incentive.

IRD's current rate schedule states a company rate of 25% on chargeable income, effective 1 January 2016. Its corporate guidance identifies the Income Tax Act, Chapter 67:01 as governing legislation and requires a return within three months after financial year-end, accompanied by the company's financial statement.

Calculation example

For established chargeable income of EC$200,000 under the ordinary regime:

  • Tax before credits or prepayments = 200,000 × 25% = EC$50,000.
  • If independently reconciled allowable prepayments total EC$40,000, the illustrative balance is EC$10,000.

The prepayment assumption is not a conclusion that any particular payment is creditable. Retain payment references and reconcile the tax account before determining the actual balance.

Calendar-year prepayments

IRD's due-date schedule lists these income-tax prepayments for companies with January–December fiscal periods: 25% on 31 March, 35% on 30 June and 40% on 30 September, based on prior-year tax payable or an estimate for the current year. It also lists 31 March for the previous year's return and outstanding tax balance.

Using an established prepayment basis of EC$40,000 produces EC$10,000, 14,000 and 16,000 respectively. Those total EC$40,000. The March prepayment for the current year and the previous year's settlement are separate obligations: label each payment with its correct year and purpose.

For a financial year ending 31 December 2026, the three-month filing rule points to 31 March 2027, subject to any applicable official extension. Do not project the calendar-year instalment dates onto a non-calendar financial year without the applicable assessment or instructions.

Working-paper checks and limits

Prepare a bridge from accounting profit to chargeable income; record the authority for each adjustment rather than assuming the rate applies to unadjusted book profit. Reconcile instalments and credits independently of that bridge. Verify the accounting period and statement attachment before submitting the return.

Residence, source rules, foreign income, permanent establishments, losses, depreciation/capital allowances, related-party transactions, incentives and distributions are not covered here. The cited administrative pages support the rate and calendar, but a full amendment audit and independent accountant review remain outstanding. This is a research reference, not comprehensive company-tax advice.
