Saint Lucia National Insurance Corporation contribution reference checked for 2026. Covers ordinary employee and employer contributions, the monthly earnings ceiling, insurable-pay inclusions and exclusions, monthly remittance timing and worked payroll examples. Use for Saint Lucia NIC deductions, employer contributions or gross earnings for social insurance. It distinguishes the contribution base from income-tax pay and treats multiple-employer refunds separately from routine payroll deductions. The scope assumes covered employment has been established. Benefits, reciprocal agreements, partial-month rules, age transitions and the self-employed assessment framework need separate review. This source-cited draft has no accountant attestation.

| Insurable earnings before ceiling | Base | Employee | Employer | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| 6,200 | 5,000 | 250 | 250 | 500 |
Source-cited draft checked 22 October 2026. This Guide covers ordinary insured employees, after eligibility and earnings classification have been established. It does not calculate PAYE, benefits or net pay.
NIC's employer guidance specifies 5% from the employee and 5% from the employer. Include basic salary and relevant overtime, allowances, commissions, service charges and holiday pay. The same page excludes Christmas and annual production bonuses, severance, terminal gratuities and payments in lieu of leave. Document the nature of a payment rather than relying on its payroll label.
The NIC FAQ caps deductions at the first EC$5,000 of monthly earnings. For multiple employers, each is responsible for deductions; excess contributions are refunded. Do not allocate the ceiling between employers without an applicable NIC determination.
For established insurable earnings B, use min(B, 5,000) as the ordinary monthly base. Each share is 5% of that base:
| Insurable earnings before ceiling | Base | Employee | Employer | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3,600 | 3,600 | 180 | 180 | 360 |
| 6,200 | 5,000 | 250 | 250 | 500 |
If an ordinary worker has EC$4,000 salary, EC$500 overtime and a separately established excluded EC$1,000 Christmas bonus, the illustrative base is EC$4,500, giving EC$225 from each party. This is a classification example, not permission to relabel ordinary remuneration as a bonus.
NIC states contributions begin with employment and must be paid by the seventh of the following month. Thus June contributions are due by 7 July. Its employer page describes submission with Form C3 and an official payment receipt. NIC employers.
Before closing payroll, reconcile the earnings schedule to the contribution base, employee deductions, employer expense and the amount remitted. Keep employee registration identifiers and payment-period references. Verify the current approved submission channel before transmitting personal data or payment.
NIC's employee guidance separately describes registration evidence, including relevant work-permit or CARICOM documentation for non-nationals. Nationality alone should not be used to decide a contribution exemption.
Resolve coverage age boundaries, treaty/reciprocal exemptions, irregular periods, travel allowances and overlapping employment against current regulations before using these examples operationally. Self-employed and voluntary contributions require their own assessed base. The administrative sources were directly readable, but a full legislative amendment audit and independent accountant review remain outstanding.
