| Payment | EC$ |

| End of December | 7,000 |
| Final balance, end of March following | 14,000 |
Checked 22 October 2026. The Finance Act 10 of 2023, Schedule item 8(b)(ii) replaces the company rate in the Income Tax Act's Fifth Schedule with 28%. The current IRD tax page corroborates that rate. This Guide assumes a company within the standard regime, with chargeable income already determined.
Accounting profit is not automatically chargeable income. Prepare a reconciliation before applying the rate, documenting each adjustment and its authority. This batch does not decide deductions, capital allowances, losses or incentives.
Assume chargeable income of EC$100,000 with no special relief or credit. Tax is 100,000 × 28% = EC$28,000. At EC$125,000 chargeable income it is EC$35,000. These examples are deliberately expressed in chargeable income rather than turnover or unadjusted accounts profit.
Income Tax Act sections 70–71 provide for estimated tax based on prior assessed chargeable income at current rates, or expected income for a person not previously assessed. Special rules apply to a short preceding company period. The first three instalments are each one-quarter of estimated tax, due by the ends of months six, nine and twelve; the fourth is the final balance by the end of the third month following year end.
Assume a calendar-year company with an established estimated tax amount of EC$28,000 and final tax of EC$35,000:
| Payment | EC$ |
|---|---|
| End of June | 7,000 |
| End of September | 7,000 |
| End of December | 7,000 |
| Final balance, end of March following | 14,000 |
The final payment is 35,000 − 21,000. It is not automatically a fourth EC$7,000 instalment. Keep the basis of the estimate, instalment receipts and final reconciliation together.
IRD states the company return and final tax are due three months after the financial year ends. IRD company-tax section. Check the applicable year-end and any authorised extension rather than assuming every company files in March.
For a closing review, reconcile the submitted computation to the financial statements and the payment ledger. Identify any withholding credits or other adjustments separately; the worked example assumes none.
The historical consolidated Income Tax Act and its later amendments, including the Tax Administration Act, need a complete reconciliation before merge. Residence, source, special sectors, incentives, deductions, loss relief and cross-border transactions remain outside this focused draft. Independent accountant review has not occurred.
