Irpf Deductions La Rioja in Spain

Calculate La Rioja regional credits for ordinary Spanish resident IRPF in 2026, for a taxpayer whose community of residence under LIRPF art. 72 is La Rioja. Covers family, childcare and household spending; housing, transport, agriculture and patronage; preserved home deductions and expired interest relief. Each row gives the credit's amount, cap, income gate, sharing rule and article, with incompatibilities and any carry-forward the law allows. Use for deducciones autonómicas La Rioja, regional IRPF credits, alquiler, nacimiento, family, housing and gift relief in La Rioja. Load es-irpf-deductions first for the residence test, the deduction ledger, the state and regional order of credits, the attributable-tax worksheet, national credits, deadlines and penalties, and es-income-tax for the bases and scales. Split unchanged from es-irpf-deductions on 6 November 2026.

The full skill

Sourced from the law. This revision has not had an independent whole-pack review or accountant sign-off. Calculate regional credits after establishing tax residence and the taxpayer's facts. This Guide holds the La Rioja catalogue of es-irpf-deductions, moved here unchanged on 6 November 2026, so that each Guide stays within the size the site can deliver. Specific unresolved interactions are listed in Sources.

Who this applies to

An ordinary IRPF resident whose community of residence for 2026 under LIRPF art. 72 is La Rioja. A regional credit reduces regional tax, not the income base. Before applying any row below, use es-irpf-deductions for the residence test, the deduction ledger, the state/regional order of credits, the national credits, deadlines, penalties and the questions to ask, and es-income-tax for the bases, scales and minima. Where a row below refers to "the attributable-tax worksheet under The base", that worksheet is es-irpf-deductions-attributable-tax; national credits, the deduction ledger and any calculation "above" outside this catalogue are in es-irpf-deductions. Basque and Navarre residents use es-foral-income-tax; an IRNR taxpayer or an art. 93 incoming worker does not take these credits.

Rates, bands and thresholds

All amounts are EUR. BI means the specified sum of general and savings taxable income before base reductions (base imponible); BL means base liquidable after the relevant reductions. Use the definition in each row: an income limit based on BI cannot be replaced with gross salary, BL or take-home pay. The table year is 2026 unless a transition is stated.

La Rioja: family, childcare and household spending

Choose the current or preserved housing route first. For the credits that expressly use an income test, the recurring test is general BL subject to tax no more than 18,030 individual / 30,050 joint, and savings BL subject to tax no more than 1,800. These are separate BL limits, not a ceiling on combined BI. Apply them to art. 32.3/6/9/10/11/12 and the enhanced legacy housing rates, not automatically to every regional credit. Rural relief uses the actual statutory municipal list: current Annex I for the named current credits, and Annex II for the preserved second-home credit. Do not replace either list with another community's population threshold (Ley 10/2017 art. 32 and DT 1–2).

Birth/adoption requires cohabitation at accrual. On individual returns, each cohabiting parent takes half the amount determined by that parent's pre-existing child count. Where the parents' child order differs, the joint-return deduction is the sum of those individually determined halves, not automatically the larger parent's whole amount. Fostering must be formalised by the competent regional judicial/administrative body; share equally on individual returns, exclude a same-year adoption by that family, and apply the statutory aggregation of different short placements where their combined stay exceeds 90 days (art. 32.1/4).

For art. 32.3 rural childcare, establish residence in an Annex I municipality during the year and retain it at accrual; the parent(s) must work outside the family home during the relevant care period, cohabit with the minimum-entitled child and use a regional centre for at least half the established day, or an employed and Social Security-registered household carer. Deduct only the period meeting the work condition. Include qualifying registration, attendance, extended hours and meals, excluding grants and exempt employment-in-kind costs. Allocate both cost and the 600 cap equally between minimum-entitled parents; if only one qualifies for the descendant minimum, use the whole eligible cost and cap. The ordinary art. 32.6 nursery route uses regional residence, the recurring BL test, the minimum and a regional infant centre, without importing the rural route's outside-home work requirement. AEAT permits ordinary nursery costs only through the month before the child turns three and explains shared-custody/death cases. Same-expense computation, labelled interpretation: arts. 32.3 and 32.6 establish separate credits and separate 600-per-child ceilings, without a mutual exclusion. Where the same unsubsidised nursery invoice independently meets both routes, calculate each credit on its own eligible base and add the results; do not replace them with a single 600 combined cap. This is an interpretation of those own provisions, corroborated by the actual AEAT public calculation described below (art. 32.3/6; AEAT rural childcare, ordinary nursery).

For the 100 monthly rural-child amount, residence and a qualifying statutory age-0-to-3 descendant must exist on the last day of each month. Split between entitled parents, rather than grant 100 to each. AEAT excludes the child's/parent's death month even when death occurs on the last day. Recapture with interest if the three-year residence condition fails without death or a necessary-move exception, such as separation, work relocation or obtaining qualifying employment. Published administrative age method: although art. 32.5 and the static instructions say “0 a 3”, the official Renta 2025 OPEN 1.19 monthly-credit dialog expressly requires the child to be “menor de tres años” on the last day of the month. Apply that under-three month-end test: a child born 15 June 2023 gives five age-eligible months in 2026, January–May, and 500 for a sole entitled parent or 250 each on two entitled parents’ individual returns. A third birthday on 30 June has the same five-month result; a third birthday on 1 January gives no age-eligible month that year. The birthday month is excluded, rather than extending relief through the completed third year. This is the published AEAT administrative reading of the unchanged provision, not a new enacted definition or an inference imported from the nursery credit (art. 32.5; AEAT monthly-child guidance).

Separate nursery-credit example and source bridge. For one child under three throughout the year, a sole minimum-entitled parent with qualifying outside-home work, qualifying residence established during the year in a current Annex I municipality and retained at accrual, qualifying half-day regional nursery care, BLG 18,000 and savings BL 0 pays 1,000 of unsubsidised eligible nursery fees. Both sets of conditions hold: rural credit min(30% × 1,000,600) = 300; ordinary credit min(20% × 1,000,600) = 200; total 500 before the available regional-quota limit. With two minimum-entitled parents who each meet both routes’ conditions and file separately, divide the eligible cost and each credit’s cap equally: 150 rural plus 100 ordinary for each parent. A Social Security-registered household carer can satisfy the rural route but does not become an infant centre for the ordinary route. The official fictional 2025 test returned 300+200=500 and reduced regional quota 724.30 to 224.30; it also displayed the monthly credit’s express under-three footnote. The 2026 method rests on current arts. 32.3/5/6, whose wording is unchanged by Ley 9/2025, and that observed administrative implementation. Use the current 2026 Annex I, amended by that law, rather than automatically reusing the 2025 municipal list. No 2026 calculator parity or court adjudication is claimed. Retain the article 32.16 incompatibility with the regional Patronage Law fiscal credit (own current statute; Ley 9/2025 art. 1 and commencement; official public Renta2025OPEN).

Internet and electricity/gas require a taxpayer under 36 at period end, an owned/rented habitual home, a contract subscribed during the year at least six months before accrual and maintained through accrual, and the entitled taxpayer named on it. Each route is usable only once per taxpayer/home, regardless of later tenure changes. Share where several cohabitants qualify. No contract holder can claim when a holder carries on economic activity in that home, even if it is also the habitual residence. Apply the recurring BL test. The enhanced rates replace the ordinary rate; they are not added together (art. 32.9–10).

Sport costs concern the taxpayer, spouse or minimum-entitled people, for services performed in La Rioja during the period: gyms/sports facilities, registered regional sports bodies, sports/physical-education classes and regional federation licences. ALS expenses cover qualified health professionals, prescribed treatment and symptom relief for that same family group. Both require a full/ordinary invoice, not a simplified receipt. Coeliac relief needs a definitive diagnosis certificate with the practising doctor's full identification, registration number/speciality and issue/diagnosis dates (art. 32.17–20).

For the current housing credits, apply the incorporated pre-2013 habitual-home/construction/rehabilitation rules where specified, including permanent occupation and retention, and the net-wealth increase test. The regional test excludes financing interest/costs from the investment comparison, unrealised movements in still-held assets and wealth increases subject to inheritance/gift tax. The 15% youth-home base includes qualifying acquisition costs, loan principal/interest and other eligible financing costs, net of interest-rate hedge receipts. Previous relieved home expenditure and exempt reinvestment gains must be exceeded before a new deduction starts and reduce the base as the statute specifies. Art. 58 bis includes construction and permanent enlargement, normally completed within four years; it excludes repairs, improvements and independently acquired annexes, but can include at most two garages bought with the home. Apply its documented insolvency/exceptional extension procedure rather than invent a construction deadline extension (art. 32.2/11, art. 58 bis).

The young tenant must actually occupy the regional habitual home, satisfy the recurring BL test, hold a tenancy with the corresponding transfer-tax return submitted and have no entitlement to a home-investment deduction in that year. On a joint return one spouse can meet the age test. Joint marital-property spouses split even if only one is named on the lease; entitled claimants otherwise share the amount equally while respecting the per-contract ceiling. Retain evidence of rent actually paid and deduct subsidies from the expense base (art. 32.12).

Vehicle classifications matter. The statutory list includes M1 passenger cars, N1 light goods vehicles and the specified L1e/L2e/L6e/L7e/L3e/L5e classes, plus assisted bicycles. M/N eligibility includes the specified homologated alternative gas fuels, BEV and range-extended electric vehicles; L-class vehicles/bicycles must be exclusively electric and homologated. Electric motorcycles require the statutory lithium-battery threshold and at least 70 km electric range; assisted bicycles require lithium batteries and the incorporated UNE standard. No business/professional use is allowed. DA 3 suspends the regional credit while national LIRPF DA 58 remains operative, except for N1, L1e, L2e and assisted bicycles. National DA 58 currently runs through 31 December 2026. Do not grant the suspended regional M1 credit just because the particular car fails national eligibility; the suspension is statutory, not merely a same-purchase election (art. 32.7/DA 3; LIRPF DA 58). Keep invoices and classification/homologation evidence; the assisted-bicycle registration-year implementation and the statute's unusual motorcycle battery unit remain unconfirmed.

Agricultural startup uses the Social Security special-regime registration date. Exclude collaborating family self-employed workers, capital-company shareholders and someone who ceased agricultural self-employment in the preceding two years. Maintain regional residence and activity for the statutory period. Apply this credit last among regional credits; an unused amount carries for the next three periods, not indefinitely. Professional-organisation dues require the organisation's certificate and qualifying status under Ley 19/1977 (art. 32.8/19 and DA 7).

Patronage requires pure, simple, irrevocable gifts and the eligible activity/beneficiary conditions. Arts. 32.14.a/b cover the regional patronage strategy and qualifying publicly owned or individually protected/inventoried regional heritage. Material contributions use Law 49/2002 art. 18 valuation. Cultural-company gifts require regional tax domicile and the listed film, performing, visual, publishing, heritage, traditional or applied-art purposes. Cultural-property gifts/usufructs/deposits by authors/creators/heirs require acceptance by the competent culture department and statutory valuation. Choose the a/b group or d/e group: a/b are incompatible with d/e. The sum of all art. 32.14 credits cannot exceed 30% of regional gross tax; the separate item caps still apply. The cultural/heritage credits cannot make regional liquid tax negative, and the statute also provides incompatibility with the regional Patronage Law fiscal credit while that credit is operative; its complete cross-credit scope remains a specialist interaction to confirm. Recipients report the prescribed donor/amount/valuation/project data in January of the following year, subject to the national-reporting coordination and copy requirements (art. 32.14–16).

Establish actual preserved entitlement first: pre-1 January 2013 acquisition or qualifying payments before that date, completion deadlines, and the prior-deduction requirement with its statutory previous-home/reinvestment exception. For rehabilitation and second-home rehabilitation the works must finish before 1 January 2017; construction normally has the incorporated four-year completion period and only proved statutory extensions. The regional youth current-home credit does not replace DT 1.a/b for a taxpayer required to remain in those preserved routes. Apply national DT 18 and the incorporated pre-2013 concepts/wealth test. Disability works additionally need the competent technical accessibility/sensory-communication certification (DT 1–2).

The preserved base is not automatically another 9,040 on top of national home relief. Under DT 2.2, the maximum annual base for preserved acquisition and rural second-home deductions is max(0, 9,040 − the taxpayer's national transitional home-deduction base), disregarding the national disability-adaptation base for that subtraction. DT 2.3 separately imposes a combined annual base cap of 9,040 on preserved rehabilitation and disability adaptations. Apply these limits, the route-specific rate and the second-home 450.76 credit cap, with the prior-home/reinvestment rules. A joint return does not make an over-age person's payments eligible for the youth deduction (DT 2; AEAT preserved acquisition guidance).

DA 2's 15% mortgage-interest credit, with 5,000 maximum base per home, expressly covers 2023, 2024 and 2025. It is not a 2026 credit under the current text. Do not roll the 2025 manual's interest relief into 2026 or treat it as cumulative with the current small-municipality/youth-home and national transitional routes that its incompatibility provision identifies (DA 2).

La Rioja tenant under 36: unsubsidised rent, ordinary and Annex I caps

Hypothetical 2026 facts: an individual La Rioja resident aged 30 meets the recurring BL test and the other conditions this Guide states for art. 32.12, with no home-investment deduction entitlement. Rent paid is 5,000 and a rent subsidy covers 800, leaving unsubsidised rent of 4,200. For an ordinary home the credit is 10% × 4,200 = 420, capped at 300 per contract. For an Annex I home it is 20% × 4,200 = 840, capped at 400 per contract (La Rioja Ley 10/2017 art. 32.12).

National law rows (LIRPF, RIRPF, LGT, Ley 49/2002) and the AEAT national guidance are in the es-irpf-deductions Sources.

Not yet confirmed: La Rioja combined current small-municipality/youth housing claims, assisted-bicycle registration and motorcycle battery-unit implementation, and full Patronage Law fiscal-credit incompatibility/valuation interactions. The country domain remains partial. No zero credit, automatic joint limit, expiry or unsupported amount is substituted for these gaps.
