| Chargeable income category | Amount | Rate | Tax |

| Ordinary company income | £100,000 | 25% | £25,000 |
| Qualifying production income | £100,000 | 15% | £15,000 |
This Guide concerns Saint Helena island. Under section 2, a company incorporated on the island is resident; a body whose affairs are controlled and managed there in the year also falls within the residence definition. Section 8 and the source definitions determine taxable income. Residence alone does not replace that source analysis. Section 7 then determines chargeable income after the statutory adjustments. Income Tax Ordinance.
Schedule 1 sets a standard company rate of 25% for ordinary chargeable income. A 15% rate applies to qualifying Chapter IV income from the taxpayer's primary production of goods or services in the listed activities: exports; fishing and processing fish; honey; local coffee growing and roasting; meat farming and butchering; vegetables, legumes, nuts, fruit and local-produce processing; liquor, wine or beer production; specified traditional crafts or locally sourced jewellery; and upholstery or clothing production. A company operating in a broadly related sector does not thereby qualify on all its income. Schedule 1 paragraph 1(1)(a) and (e).
Company dividends have a separate 0% category and capital gains a 10% category in that Schedule. Do not blend all receipts into the ordinary 25% base. The tax office's current rate page corroborates these categories.
Assuming the chargeable amounts and classifications have already been established, with no credits:
| Chargeable income category | Amount | Rate | Tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinary company income | £100,000 | 25% | £25,000 |
| Qualifying production income | £100,000 | 15% | £15,000 |
For a company with £80,000 ordinary and £20,000 qualifying chargeable income after allocation, tax is £20,000 + £3,000 = £23,000. Common deductions attributable to both sources must first be allocated in the statutory ratio. This example starts after that allocation and does not establish an incentive entitlement. Schedule 1 paragraph 1(3).
Sections 39 and 43 set the ordinary return deadline three months after the tax year or approved substituted accounting period, and payment three months after the original return due date. A filing extension does not move that payment date. The current tax-office page gives 30 June for self-employed/company returns and 30 September for payment under the normal year. Earlier instalments still apply where required. Sections 39 and 43; administrative calendar.
For the year ending 31 March 2026, the 2026 filing reminder expressly confirms the 30 June 2026 business-return deadline. An approved different accounting period requires its own calendar.
Section 45 requires instalments for business/self-employment or property income other than interest, but excludes a person whose previous-year total taxable income from those sources was less than £50,000. The test concerns taxable income from the specified sources, not final tax payable or company turnover. Section 45.
Regulation 21 sets payment within 15 days after the ends of months three, six, nine and twelve of the tax year or substituted period. Each instalment uses the prior-year tax basis specified there; withholding, unknown assessments and approved estimate variations have additional rules. With prior-year tax of £20,000, no section 26 withholding and no variation, each instalment is £5,000. If final current-year tax is £25,000 and all four instalments were paid, the balance before other credits is £5,000. Regulation 21 and section 44.
A reduced estimate is not self-authorising: regulation 21(4) requires an application and approval. The underestimation provisions also require review before reducing payments.
Deductions, capital allowances, losses, investment credits, withholding, treaty analysis, formation and company-law reporting need their own source-backed treatment. These rates and payment examples do not establish full company compliance.
Checked 22 October 2026 against the official Income Tax Ordinance consolidation authoritative at 1 October 2021 and the additional sources linked above. The Gazette index was searched for later income-tax instruments; its Ascension rate orders do not apply to Saint Helena island. A complete audit of later resolutions and instruments and independent accountant review remain outstanding. This is a source-cited draft, not comprehensive coverage of the SH territory code or accountant attestation.
